Queanbeyan Night Podz

A safe, warm place to sleep for anyone doing it tough.

Queanbeyan Night Podz is a community-run overnight service that gives people a safe, private place to sleep if they’re homeless, at risk of homelessness, or going through a hard time.

Everyone is welcome — no judgment, no questions. Just friendly volunteers, clean beds, and a place to rest.

It doesn’t matter if this is your first time needing help or something you’ve faced for a while — we’re here so you can get a proper night’s sleep in comfort and safety.

Location: 1 Farrer Place, Queanbeyan

Join the Queanbeyan Night Podz Volunteer Crew!

Want to make a real difference in our community? Queanbeyan Night Podz is all about providing a safe, warm place to sleep for those doing it tough – and we need amazing volunteers like you to make it happen!

There’s a role for everyone, whether you’re a night owl, an early riser, or just love keeping things tidy.

Volunteer Roles:

Driver

Love a short, feel-good drive? Our drivers pick up the bus from CDC Canberra (Bass Street, Queanbeyan) and drop it off at our service location (1 Farrer Place, Queanbeyan) – then return it the next morning. Plus, you’ll get plenty of friendly waves along the way!

Shift times:

·         Evening: 7:30pm – 8:15pm

·         Morning: 7:00am – 7:45am

What you need: A current MR driver’s licence (don’t worry, we’ll show you the ropes!).

Caretaker (Overnight Role)

If you’re happy to sleep over on the bus, this might be the perfect role for you! Caretakers are our overnight team leaders, helping guests settle in and making sure everything runs smoothly. You get your own comfy cabin, and while some nights are quiet, others offer the opportunity to provide support and care to a guest in need.

Shift time: 8:00pm – 7:15am (We can be flexible if you have work or family commitments!)

Night Service Crew

Not keen on a late night but still want to help? Our service crew assist the caretaker in setting up the bus, welcoming guests, and helping them settle in. This role works well if you fancy dinner out beforehand or just don’t want to be up too late!

Shift time: 8:00pm – 10:00pm

Housekeeping Crew (Morning Role)

Love the feeling of fresh sheets? Our housekeeping crew keeps the bus clean and comfy by making beds and tidying up the toilets. This is a great option if nights aren’t your thing but you still want to lend a hand.

Shift time: 8:00am – 9:00am (We can be flexible if you have work or family commitments!)

Additional Information:

We provide full orientation and training for all volunteers.
We have plenty of training shifts available on our roster.
A NSW Working with Children Check (WWC) is required (free for volunteers). Apply here: WWC Check.
Please note: We cannot accept ACT Working with Vulnerable People Checks, as we operate in NSW.
